There’s a lot of hype over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s campaign, and for good reason. It’s the first time that we’re receiving two Modern Warfare games coming in two years. It seems like the new chapter in the MW narrative is going to include the conflict between Vladimir Makarov and Task Force 141, while General Shephard is still lurking in the shadows. Of course, we also know that MW3 will feature a Zombies mode and Multiplayer as well, but here in this post we’re going to focus on all the details, leaks, notable rumors, and official info we have about the MW3 Campaign.
Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Story Explained
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s campaign follows the story of the MW2 2022, in which the main antagonist was Hasan Zayani, a maniac who wanted to shoot a missile at Chicago in an act of revenge. Importantly, once he and his henchman are defeated, there’s a cutscene that alludes to the sequel story of MW3. In it, a group of terrorists are seen trying to hijack a plane and essentially perform another ‘No Russian’ operation. They mercilessly kill a bunch of civilians, and end up faking the cause of it. Now the story of MW3 starts somewhere around this happening, where Vladimir Makarov, the leader of the Konni Group is trying to threaten the world.
Makarov’s goal in the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign is to make ultranationalists take Russia so that they can invade other countries. Makarov is still trying to gain power in the MW3 Campaign, and it seems like he will cause damage to other countries while doing so. However, it remains to be seen how Task Force 141 will put an end to this villain, and how Makarov is planning to eliminate leaders like General Shephard and Captain Price.
Does Captain Price Die in the MW3 Campaign?
No, Captain Price will probably not die in the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign story. In a recent trailer that was published by Activision for MW3, some gameplay actions and story-driven scenes are revealed. In these cutscenes, we can see parts of the story missions. But among those, there’s a scene where Captain Price falls to the ground. This is probably not a cutscene, as it looks more like an in-game gameplay footage. However, even if Price really is being downed, he’s not dead; at least not at what we see here. There are no signs of blood, no damage, and no bruises.
Who is The Villain in the MW3 Campaign?
Vladimir Makarov is the main villain of the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign. This character was first introduced in the original Modern Warfare series. And he seems to be the same person in the MW‘s rebooted narrative. However, in the new MW story, it seems like Makarov is held in prison, and he somehow manages to escape.
It remains to be seen how Makarov is going to start the new World War. And if he has the same ambitions that the previous version of him had in the original Modern Warfare series. Whatever the case, he and his Konni Group were both teased in the Warzone 2 DMZ mode, and we’ll get to know more about them in the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign.
Will There Be A Modern Warfare 4?
Yes, it is very fortunate to have Modern Warfare 4 after the MW3 in later years. The story of the new Modern Warfare universe is very far from expansion, and a lot is going on that needs covering. Vladimir Makarov will probably not die in this game, and there are many other villains like General Shephard that the developers have not used yet.
A sequel to the current Modern Warfare 3 Campaign is very probable to happen. However, it has not been confirmed by Activision. So take this opinion with a grain of salt, and let’s wait until the release of official info in the upcoming years.
Modern Warfare 3 Campaign Gameplay
One of the very important aspects of the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign, is the design of its gameplay. We had mentioned before how the gameplay of MW3 will change overall in terms of adding movement mechanics to the game, but there are actually even more substantial changes. Indeed, the Campaign will play differently from MW2. This is mainly because of the new addition that is called the Open Combat Missions within the campaign.
The Open Combat Missions are a part of the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign, where the players will have a choice on how to run a certain mission. For example, think like you’re playing a mission, where you need to extract an ACS module from an enemy base. You can either attack this base fully armed or complete the task in a stealthy tactic.
According to your playstyle, you can choose loadouts for each OCM. And it’s very important to note that you’ll have a mini-map on the top left corner of the screen! This is something that we usually don’t see in a Call of Duty Campaign mission, and it probably helps locate the POIs and find enemy soldiers.
However, it is not confirmed if ending a mission with each tactic will have a different outcome or not. The developers have mentioned that you can choose dialogues like you did in MW2 2022, but it probably won’t affect the main plot.
