Liu Kang Advanced Combos in Mortal Kombat 1
Note that the following combos are not detailed in the game. These are the combos that players can learn and master by combining different movements and attacks in Mortal Kombat 1. Also, remember to read the description of each move if you need further info on how to perform them.Â
2x Dragon Tails: Back – Forward – 1 * Back – Forward – 1 – RT/R2
Dragon Tails is one of the most useful special attacks of Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 1. You can perform it in normal, and the amplified version by pressing RT/R2 in the end with A/X. However, did you know that you can hit your opponent twice with this move? If you use the amplified version first, your opponent will go up into the air, thus allowing you to perform one more Dragon Tail and hit him with a flying kick this time.

The Creator and Dancing Dragon: Forward – 4 – 1 * Back – Forward – 4 – RT/R2
This is one of the easiest advanced combos of Liu Kang in Mortal Combat 1, which also drains a lot of the enemy’s HP. First, you would need to perform The Creator. Then, hit your opponent with an amplified version of Dancing Dragon to hit the most damage. You can do it without amplifying Dancing Dragon as well.
The Creator to Dragon Tail: Forward – 4 – 1 * Back – Forward – 1 – RT/R2 * Back – Forward – 1
Same as the previous combo, start your combo with The Creator. After the last kick, quickly perform the amplified version of Dragon Tail to hit your enemy up in the air, and then perform another Dragon Tail to hit him with a flying kick. It’s basically 2x Dragon Tail after The Creator.
Tailwhip and Holding Back: Back – 3 – 1 * Forward – 1 – 1 – 1 * Back – Forward – 1
Tailwhip is one of the most important combo starters for Liu Kang in MK1. The reason is that it throws your opponent high in the air, giving you a chance to do follow-up attacks. Now, after the Tailwhip, perform a three 1 combo that is called Holding Back. At the end, hit your opponent with a Dragon Tail or 2x Dragon Tail for maximum damage.

Tailwhip to Dragon’s Breath: Back – 3 – 1 * Down – Back – 4 * Forward – 1 – 1 – 1 * Back – Forward – 1 or Down – Back – 4
Tailwhip at the start, and then follow this attack by Dragon’s Breath, another one of Liu Kang’s special moves in Mortal Kombat 1. This will launch your opponent twice in the air, and you’ll have the chance to perform a Holding Back combo, followed by another Dragon Breath.
2x Whips and Dragons: Back – 3 – 1 * Back – 3 – 1 * Forward – 1 – 1 – 1 * Back – Forward – 1 * Back – Forward – 1 – RT/R2
This time, let’s do two Tailwhip attacks to begin. But remember that after the first one, you need to go only one step closer for the second Tailwhip to work. After that, do a Holding Back and the 2x Dragon Tail. You’ll drain more than 40% of your opponent’s health bar with this combo by Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 1.
Shaolin Stutter to Dragon Breath: Forward – 2 – 4 * Back – Down – 4 * Forward – 1 – 1 – 1 * Back – Forward – 1 – RT/R2 * Back – Forward – 1
Shaolin Stutter is a good combination of high and low attacks by Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat 1. But right after your opponent is hit by the low kick, it’s time to perform a Dragon’s Breath to launch that poor warrior up into the air. Next, perform a Holding Back combo and follow it by performing a 2x Dragon Tail. This combo also drains your opponent’s HP by more than 40%.
Mortal Kombat 1 is currently available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
