Baldur’s Gate 3 is a huge success, but the recent patch today added a crucial feature called the Magic Mirror. While the character creator is incredible in Baldur’s Gate 3, the issue with it is it can sometimes present a false look at what your character will appear like in the game. This has resulted in some characters looking completely terrible despite looking great in the character creator. Luckily, the Magic Mirror is here now to fix all your aesthetic woes.
What Is The Magic Mirror
The Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3 is an object that will let you change your character’s appearance at any time in the game for free. This means that everything from your appearance can be changed from hairstyle to facial features and pronouns. However, there are some things you cannot change. For one, if you’ve acquired any unique effects on your character, say, a certain witch has taken your eye, that eye is gone forever. The same goes for any additional effects that may have come via decisions you’ve made, such as accepting the Absolute’s mark in the Goblin camp.
In addition to being stuck with any prior marks put upon your character by the story, you also cannot change your race, sub-race, or body type in the Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3. While there are mods that can do this, if you’re on PS5, you’re stuck with the race you choose from the get-go. Origin characters, however, cannot be changed in any way, and this is also true for full-blown Ithilids. This also goes for hirelings, so there are certainly some limits to the feature despite how great the addition is.
Where Is The Magic Mirror?
You don’t have to travel all that far to get your hands on the Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3. That’s because it’s located right in the camp at all times. You go to the east corner of the map, where there has been suspiciously little to do, and you will find it lying in a little stone settlement. Walk up to the mirror and change to your heart’s content. This addition lets players fix whatever inconsistencies might have existed with their characters before, and it offers an endless amount of customization in between quests.
We’ve been expecting this update for a while due to the same addition coming to Divinity: Original Sin 2, and while it took a bit longer than some may have hoped, it’s here now, and all character creation complaints can be assuaged with one look in the Magic Mirror in Baldur’s Gate 3.
