The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: New Trailer, Gameplay, and Footage
The February 8, 2023 Nintendo Direct gave us a fuller view at the upcoming latest game in the Legend of Zelda franchise. The trailer provided a new look at gameplay, including new forms of enemies, new abilities ant items, and what appears to be a vehicle building mechanic.
In the trailer, fans can see not only new forms of existing enemies like Bokoblins, Moblins and Lizalfos, but have also been given a glimpse at new ones. These include a giant stone golem of sorts, different from Stone Talus, and a dragon-like creature.
More notably, there is more evidence that Ganondorf will be the primary antagonist of Tears of the Kingdom. Ganondorf has been the iconic main villain of the Zelda franchise since the first game in 1986, when he appeared in his monstrous Ganon form. Â He took on his more humanoid appearance of Ganondorf for the first time in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the first Zelda game to implement full voice acting and dialogue for a majority of the central characters, and from the trailer it seems Ganondorf will be speaking for the first time in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.Â
In addition to this new information, new footage of the game’s story and mechanics such as the ability to build a vehicle to traverse the land and shy were shown. New items like a homing attack of sorts were shown as well, along with a slew of new footage.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will still release for Nintendo on March 12, 2023. It is listed for $69.99 on the Nintendo eShop for pre-order, and a retail Collector’s Edition will also be available for $129.99.
The Collector’s Edition includes include a physical copy of the game, an artbook, a Steelbook case, a steel poster, and four pin badges. An amiibo of Link that allows for access to various helpful items will also be distributed.
