If you’re a Trainer eager to expand your Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, The Teal Mask DLC gives you the opportunity. There are hundreds of new and returning Pokemon added with this expansion. One of those is the lovable, oversized Snorlax. There’s a chance you may encounter a wild Snorlax, but you may be better off learning how to evolve Munchlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Let’s check out everywhere you can find Munchlax and what you need to do for its evolution.

Once you dive into The Teal Mask DLC, you can freely roam Kitakami, discovering numerous Pokemon. Munchlax is one of them. Munchlax will eventually evolve into Snorlax, but the Baby Pokemon holds quite a few differences if you compare it to the fan-favorite creature. Rather than lay around, Munchlax is far more active. You can catch one running about doing its little waddle movements, and that’s no different in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

If you want to learn how to evolve Munchalx, you can first catch one in different areas on the map. Check far north in Kitakami near the center of the map. You can also search for Munchlax along the west coast area. The Pokemon tends not to stray too far from water, so keep that in mind while you’re looking for it.

It’s not the easiest to evolve Munchlax because the Baby Pokemon is tough to catch. Remember that Munchlax is a rare spawn, so it’s normal if you don’t see a lot. However, you can use sandwiches as a lure, and Normal-type kinds should do the trick with Munchlax.

Evolving Munchlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

When you capture Munchlax, it has a specific requirement for its evolution. Munchlax will evolve once you increase its friendship level above 220. It’s closer to having a great friendship, so you’ll want to use as many resources as possible to speed things along.

Below are a few ways you can increase your friendship level with Munchlax to evolve it into Snorlax:

  • Catch Munchlax with a Luxury Ball
  • Hold a Soothe Bell
  • Battling
  • Walking
  • Eat Berries

Using a Luxury Ball to catch Munchlax is a great way to quicken the evolution process. The Luxury Ball provides a solid friendship boost. Also, it’s easy to get Munchlax out and walking alongside you. If you plan to battle with it, take care that it won’t faint, or else you won’t get those friendship points.

Before you evolve Munchlax, another good thing to remember is that only some berries boost friendship points. Even then, it’s always at the cost of something else. For instance, a Pomeg Berry increases friendship, but it reduces HP. Just understand what you’re willing to sacrifice beforehand. If the points are worth it, then feed away so you can enjoy having Snorlax in your game as soon as possible.
